Riksforsamlingen edit
[edit]Hi - thanks for reviewing my translation. Translations are always open to interpretation, so it's good to have some interest shown. However, the change that you have made, while appearing small, makes a large difference. That's great if it's accurate but not so good if it's not. I'll ask a Norwegian or two about it, to see if it truly represents the history of the moment. "agreed the constitution" implies that it was not hammered out beforehand; "agreed to the constitution" implies that it was hammered out beforehand and that all the Assembly had to do was to 'rubber stamp' it. I'll check the facts, as best I can. Good to talk :-) Ballista 04:33, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
"Rumor about an African servant in a cabinet" - section...
[edit]I removed the following statement from this section:
- (The story might be influenced by the existence of a painting at Eidsvoll [1] depicting Ulrik Fredrik Gyldenløve in front of an African boy. The boy was presumed to have been born a slave and purchased by Gyldenløve. Supposedly the boy in the painting later became known as Christian Hansen Ernst and was killed on 17 August 1894 Kragerø.[1])
There are several problems with this: first the date mentioned is way off - eighty years after the 'fact'; second, the link of Christian Hansen Ernst and Ulrik Fredrik Gyldenløve are people from the late 1600s and not relevant to this page; third, the Kragerø page describes a murder from 1694. I'm assuming that someone screwed up here... Dinkytown talk 20:12, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
